Monica Ashton has been working in the mental health field for over 20 years and has been at The Healing Group since it’s beginning. She is currently serving as the Director of Maternal Mental Health, training and supervising other clinicians in reproductive mental health. Prior to The Healing Group, Monica worked as a Crisis and Trauma worker at University Hospital, performing mental health evaluations, crisis and trauma work.
Monica specializes in treating anxiety disorders, life transitions (divorce/loss/new relationships, etc), grief and loss, and reproductive health issues including infertility, pregnancy loss, infant loss, postpartum depression and alternative family building with donors and surrogates. She has postgraduate training in infertility counseling and meets ARSM requirements as a specialist in Infertility Counseling. She has trained in Boston, Massachusetts with Alice Domar,PhD at Boston IVF. She is a professional member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and a member of the mental health professional group.
Monica has postgraduate training in postpartum depression and other perinatal mood disorders from Postpartum Support International, completed their professional training program, and is a professional member of PSI. Monica also has postgraduate training in grief and loss counseling from ADEC and is currently pursuing a Fellow in Thanatology.
