What are perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, or PMADs? Perinatal means pregnancy through postpartum. The medical community considers the postpartum period to last for a year after birth. The mental health community considers the postpartum period to last for 2 years after birth. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, or PMADs are the mental health challenges that can occur during this period of time. This can include depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, panic, bipolar disorder and psychosis.
This is a time of significant transition and change, hormone fluctuation and relationship shifts. During these groups we want to discuss not only the challenges but also the resources and strengths of each individual. We hope this series supports your wellness!
