Welcome New THG Therapist - Kim Newman, LCSW
The Healing Group is pleased to welcome our newest team member, Kim Newman, LCSW.
Kim brings over five years of experience as a mental health therapist to THG. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Utah with a major in Psychology, and went on to complete her Master of Social Work degree at the U of U as well. She believes strongly in embracing a holistic approach to wellness, taking into consideration the client’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health to work towards empowerment and overall well-being.
Kim has a strong background in supporting survivors of trauma, particularly those with a history of sexual/complex trauma and child abuse. Depending on the needs of the client, she employs a number of different therapeutic approaches such as:
psychodynamic therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
person-centered therapy,
mindfulness
Herman’s tri-phasic model of recovery
the Gottman method of couples therapy
Whether a client is struggling with anxiety, grief, PTSD, or out of control sexual behaviors, Kim is well-equipped to support individuals on their healing journey. She is a fantastic addition to The Healing Group staff and is currently taking new clients!
